Hi folks,

Over the last three days I have been getting disconnected from my VPN sessions (both UK and both US) every few minutes (quite variable). Before that all has been well.

How can I tell if this is a problem with my ISP, system (Win7RC) or PureVPN? As far as I can tell the ISP connection (True, Thailand) remains up but streaming downloading stops and then the redial dialogue for the VPN appears. Reconnection goes through fine and things resume until the next drop.

If I am watching a Warner Bros stream the stream reconnects without redialling the VPN and continues (i.e. they only check IP region at the start) without further interruption (suggesting it's not the ISP that's dropping).

System Win7RC, usually stream through Firefox from BBC and Hulu and download through iPlayerDownloader.

Cheers,

K.

Dear Valued Customer,

There are quite a few things to check. First switching between the two provided protocolsof PPTP and L2TP can help. We provide both in our welcome email. In most cases this switching resolves disconnection issue.

As for the system, may I know whether you have recently changed your OS?

Better if you can also submit a support ticket to the technical department with your answer, that operates 24/7/365

Awaiting your response,

The PureVPN Team

Thanks for the reply. With it being an intermittant problem it took a while to check all possible variables, but it seems to have been a problem with True Internet as it has resolved (for now) without any permanant changes to my VPN settings. I usually leave the VPN security seting on Automatic with the L2TP passkey filled in under the advanced setting. Fixing it on PPTP or L2TP did not noticeably improve stability.

I was looking for a tool that could monitor the connection and record which drops first, the ISP or the VPN.

[Wouldn't you know it, damn thing dropped while I was typing the above... and again just now...]

Update: Can't connect with either protocol to (64.191.53.5); can connect to (216.108.234.200) but Hulu are blocking that ("...we notice you are trying to access Hulu through and anonymous proxy tool.")
