The coronavirus has caused significant disruptions all over the world. Many countries are currently in a state of lockdown. Most of Europe is under a curfew situation. People aren’t allowed to head out for anything except to buy the daily essentials.

In this situation, life can’t go on as usual. This is why most movies, TV shows, and events that were due to happen have been delayed for a few weeks or even months.

In case you’re wondering which movie or TV show has been officially delayed so far, we’ve compiled a list.

Coronavirus: All the Shows and Movies Affected by COVID-19

Movies that have been delayed

The following title were due to come out in the near future soon. However, the crisis has caused significant delays, and the studios have recently announced that several titles have been delayed and will probably (hopefully!) come out later this year.

A Quiet Place 2

On March 12, John Krasinski announced that the sequel to “A Quiet Place” will be postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. Although he hasn’t revealed the updated release date yet from its original date of March 18, 2020, we shouldn’t expect it to come for another few months.

Here is the complete statement by the actor/director on his Twitter account:

F9

Another movie that was due to come out on May 22, 2020 was the latest installment of the Fast and Furious franchise. Instead, it has now been postponed until April 2021. This means that fans of the series now have to wait for over a year to watch the Fast and the Furious sequel.

No Time to Die

Even James Bond can’t fight the ongoing pandemic. The new Bond movie, No Time to Die, was set to appear soon. Now, the release date has been pushed to November 2020.

Mission Impossible VII

The upcoming installment of the Mission Impossible series was previously being filmed in Venice. However, Paramount Studios have just announced that the shooting has been halted due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Minions: The Rise of Gru

The second stand-alone Minion movie was set to release this July. However, the production of the movie has been similarly halted because of the outbreak, and its release date has consequently been delayed. We haven’t received an updated release date yet, but we’re hoping that it’s not too far away.

TV Shows that have been delayed so far

A number of TV shows were due to hit our screens in the next few weeks and months. Unfortunately, many of these have been put on hold because of the Coronavirus pandemic. These include the following:

All Netflix Productions

Ever since Kristofer Hivju tested positive for the Coronavirus, all Netflix productions have been put on hold. Netflix released a statement which said that it is “arranging for deep cleaning and disinfection” of its production offices.

This means that many TV shows and movies that were in the production stage, including the Witcher, have been put on a pause until the situation settles down.

The Winter Soldier and The Falcon

Disney has confirmed that both of the upcoming Marvel TV shows have been delayed because of the pandemic. Both were being shot in Prague, but production shut down after the government placed restrictions on events and travel.

Supernatural

The final season of the popular television series was set to appear sometime this year. Just two episodes were due to be filmed. However, the production has now been paused by the Warner Bros. Television Group.

Riverdale

The production of Riverdale has also been shut down temporarily by Warner Bros. Television Group. This was done after concerns that a team member was in contact with someone who tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Friends Reunion show

The internet was hyped up after news appeared that the most awaited reunion show is finally happening. All the cast members of the Friends series posted on Instagram that they’ll make one final appearance in an unscripted reunion show.

The show was supposed to film on March 23 and 24. But because of the ongoing situation, production has been delayed until at least May.

Other shows that have been delayed so far

  • The Amazing Race
  • The Bachelorette
  • Law & Order: SVU
  • Survivor
  • The Morning Show
  • Grey’s Anatomy
  • Grace and Frankie
  • Late-night television
  • American Idol
  • Doctor Oz

Now that you know…

We’re not sure if any more movies and TV shows will get delayed. That depends on how the pandemic fares in the next few weeks. Only time will tell if we’ll get to see these movies and TV shows this year or not.
