There are numerous factors that contribute to the sluggish internet speed you’ve been experiencing on your devices. Factors such as how old is your device, what software is it running, is it up to date with the latest software and updates, does it have any viruses or malware.

Factors Affecting Internet Speed

All these factors attribute to the internet speed you get on your device. Follow the steps below to improve your internet performance.

  • File-Sharing Programs: Torrent clients like uTorrent or BitTorrent use huge amounts of data. This has proven to slow down internet speeds.
  • Viruses/Adware/Malware: Make a habit of checking your device for harmful software, download anti-virus software that’s get rid of viruses and malware.
  • Firewalls: A firewall is there to review your internet traffic, which slows down internet speeds especially if there’s a strict firewall in place. For optimal speeds, reset your firewall to its default settings.
  • Power Outage: Perhaps the most common reason is a power outage. ISPs frequently face power disruptions. Call your ISP and confirm with them.
