Internet Explorer Users – Upgrade or Remain Unsecured

Microsoft has recently announced that it will end technical and security support for every version of its Internet Explorer (IE) web browser, except for the latest version – Edge.

With the launch of WINDOWS 10, Microsoft also launched a new web browser “Microsoft Edge”. It’s clear that Microsoft wants to move all its users to its new minimalist, touch-focused web browser, Edge. The giant tech has now warned users to upgrade to the new version as it is going to end support for the ageing IE within weeks.

On its website, Microsoft has stated that after January 12, there will be no patches or updates available to protect users from attacks and vulnerabilities on any older versions of IE.  The message also reads:

"Internet Explorer 11 is the last version of Internet Explorer, and will continue to receive security updates, compatibility fixes, and technical support on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10."

Latest figures suggest that millions of people around the globe are still using Windows XP, Windows 7 and older versions of IE.

However, the new browser – default on Windows 10 – includes some incredible features like distraction-free reading mode, and integration with Cortana –the admired voice assistant.

It is, therefore, highly recommended that IE users should upgrade to the latest version as soon as possible to ensure they are always up-to-date with the latest patches and security updates.
