A social media platform LinkedIn, a professional hub, has recently launched new features to fight against fake accounts and control spamming and malicious activities on Linkedin.

Rachel Jones, CEO of SnapDragon Monitoring, said, “Today, criminals will regularly use social media platforms to con people out of money, so any move to protect users is a positive step,”

“LinkedIn is one of the most widely used platforms in the world, and while it primarily attracts legitimate users, it also offers criminals an avenue to commit fraud.”

Jones added. “Furthermore, criminals also use social media to lure people into romance scams or even to set up fake profiles pretending to be recruiters for legitimate organizations.”

“These scams cause irreparable emotional and financial damage, and more needs to be done by businesses and online platforms to protect users. If a business sees criminals are duplicating its site, they must ensure it is taken offline with speed and efficiency before it causes harm.”

On Tuesday, in a blog post, Linkedin announced to launch of three new features on the platform by showing the concerns for their users’ privacy and security.

The first feature they have introduced is ‘About this profile,’ When anyone searches any Linkedin profile, this feature displays the users when the particular profile was created and last updated. The platform also flags whether the corresponding phone number and work email on the profile is verified or not. This phone number and email verification make it easier to find the correct account and flag any suspicious activity or history.

The second feature uses an AI-powered deep learning model to locate fake accounts through AI technology-generated photos quickly. The new model is designed to help LinkedIn’s automated anti-abuse system to work more effectively by detecting and removing fake accounts before they have a chance to reach members.

Finally, the last feature is alerting users through a warning on particular messages with high-risk content that might impact security. These alert messages tell users to take the conversation to another platform to continue the communication. Furthermore, Users will be able to flag these messages on LinkedIn, to enhance their social media security measures. Plus, the sender will never get to know about it.
