Kodi is an open-source media player that allows customization from the ground up. It has a whole ecosystem of add-ons that users can install to improve the overall functionality. Simply put, Kodi skin is the primary interface for the user. When you open Kodi, the default outlook (interface) of the app with different menus and submenus is the ‘skin’. However, not many people know that skin can be edited or changed.
Some skins are specially designed for specific usages or hardware but mostly they are used to add a more visual appeal to the overall Kodi experience. While the latest Kodi Leia version 18.2 supports a limited range of skins at the moment, there are still many popular customized skins like ‘Grid’ and ‘Confluence’ available.
Once you install Kodi 18.2 on your device for the first time, you would see a default skin installed called the ‘Estuary skin’ like the previous 17.6 Krypton version. Even though it still looks and works decently in 2019, you’d be wasting the ‘fun’ part of Kodi 17.6 without a new customized skin. You can either change the skin directly via settings or use a zip file. Here’s how.
You can change the Kodi skin directly from the app’s setting panel using these steps.
Step 1: Launch Kodi on your device and go to the ‘home screen’
Step 2: Scroll up to the top left of the screen and click on the ‘gear icon’ to open ‘Kodi’s ‘settings’ menu
Step 3: Choose ‘Interface settings’
Step 4: Choose ‘skin’ from the sidebar placed at the screen’s top left then choose ‘skin’ again from the sidebar that opens on right
Step 5: A new subscreen will pop up where you can choose from the skins that have been previously installed on Kodi. Click on the ‘Get more’ button and proceed to the next step
Step 6: Now, a list with all available skins for Kodi 18.2 will pop up
Step 7: Go through the list and pick the skin you want to download and install but there’s no preview option. There’s no way for you to know how the skin will look like before it is installed. However, you may conduct an online search before you pick one.
Step 8: You may now click on the skin and wait for it to be downloaded and applied automatically
Step 9: Choose ‘yes’ when the screen on the right says ‘would you like to keep this change’
Step 10: The skin will now be installed and applied automatically
Follow these steps to change Kodi skin if you have a ZIP file.
Step 1: Download the skin of your choice and save in ‘ZIP’ format
Step 2: Check if your Kodi has unknown resources enabled or not. If it’s enabled, move to the next step. If not, follow this guide to do enable it first
Step 3: Go to Kodi home screen and choose ‘Add-ons’ from the main menu
Step 4: Then, choose ‘open box icon’ on the screen’s top left
Step 5: Choose ‘Install from ZIP file’
Step 6: Navigate to the location of the ZIP file and open it
Step 7: Wait a few seconds for the skin to be installed
Step 8: Now go back to the home screen and choose ‘Add-ons’ from the menu
Step 9: Next, choose ‘My add-ons’ from the left side of the screen
Step 10: Now, choose ‘Look and feel’ from the right side of the screen
Step 11: You skin shall be available in once you choose the ‘skin’ option
Now that you've uncovered both the methods to change skins on Kodi, you may wanna know how you can switch back to Kodi’s default Kodi skin ‘Estuary’ skin. Here’s how you can do it.

Step 2: Click on ‘Interface’
Step 3: Select ‘skin’
