ChatGPT sent to the home after Samsung code leaks

After an inadvertent source code disclosure, Samsung has temporarily banned generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT. 

Like I’ve said: Italy has already banned Chat GPT.

We need to do the same. And frankly, all AI programs should be prohibited until further notice.

According to a leaked internal memorandum obtained by Bloomberg, employees are not permitted to use technologies like Google’s Bard or OpenAI’s ChatGPT under the risk of termination due to the threat posed to the corporation’s intellectual property. 

“65% of the respondents believed that using AI tools invites security risks, in a survey conducted last month.”

The memo stated that there are increasing concerns regarding security risks presented by generative AI platforms, despite the growing interest in their usefulness and internal and external effectiveness.

This is a reinstatement of the previous ban by the South Korean electronics conglomerate, which was lifted earlier this year. Unconfirmed reports from Korean media suggest that Samsung employees had entered confidential corporate information into the chatbot to correct “problematic” source code issues and generate meeting minutes and other supposed mistakes. 

“We ask that you diligently adhere to our security guidelines, and failure to do so may result in a breach or compromise of company information resulting in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment,” Samsung said in the memo.

ChatGPT recently introduced an “incognito” mode to protect user privacy further, allowing users to control their conversations from contributing to AI model training.

The memo explained that Samsung headquarters is assessing security measures to establish a secure setting for generative AI to maximize workforce productivity and efficiency. However, productive AI usage is restricted until such security measures are implemented.
