Jack Teixeira, a Discord member who leaked information on the Discord group about the US military documents, was found not to be completely deleted. He asked a random nerd on Discord to help delete evidence to help him evade the United States government, discovered by vx-underground.
Jack Teixeira had bullet-proof OpSec.
Hackers use bulletproof OPSEC to protect their identity and activities while conducting illicit or malicious activities, such as cyber-attacks, data theft, and other illegal activities. Using bulletproof OPSEC, hackers can minimize their risk of being caught or traced by law enforcement or other security agencies.
A firearm enthusiast is responsible for the massive leak of confidential information from the U.S. government, which has exposed spying on allies, revealed the bleak future for Ukraine’s war with Russia, and caused diplomatic turmoil for the White House. The man shared highly classified documents with acquaintances scattered across the world seeking companionship amidst the pandemic’s isolation.
Bound by their shared passions for military equipment, guns, and religion, this group of around 20 men and boys established an exclusive clubhouse on the online gaming platform Discord in 2020. When the man called “OG” posted a message brimming with unfamiliar acronyms and jargon last year, they barely paid any attention.

OG claimed to possess knowledge of classified information that the government kept hidden from the general public.
OG integration
- OG initially provided his fellow Discord group members with a glimpse of the many secrets to be disclosed.
- But when manually transcribing hundreds of classified files became too tedious, he opted to post hundreds of photos of the documents instead.
This incredible collection of confidential information has been gradually seeping into public view over the past week, causing upheaval in U.S. foreign policy and straining America’s relationships with its allies.

According to the Washington Post: “This narrative of how detailed intelligence documents, intended solely for an exclusive circle of government decision-makers and military leaders, made their way into and subsequently out of OG’s private community is based partly on a series of lengthy interviews with a member of the Discord group. The interviewee, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, is under the age of 18 and was only a young teenager when he first encountered OG.”
OG later altered his approach,
- Preferring to take photographs of genuine documents and share them on the server instead of copying them by hand.
- These images were more impactful and gripping than plain-text versions, featuring detailed charts depicting the conditions of battlefields in Ukraine, classified satellite images of the aftermath of Russian missile strikes on Ukrainian electrical facilities, and outlines of the potential trajectory of North Korean ballistic nuclear missiles capable of reaching the United States.
- Other photographs included snapshots of the Chinese spy balloon that drifted across the country in February, likely taken by a U-2 spy plane at eye level, along with a diagram of the balloon and the attached surveillance technology.
Concluding thoughts
Presence on the internet means you are always exposed. We worry about individual privacy, but even countries’ sovereignty can be compromised today. Whistleblowers must perform their duties in this regard and ensure that leaked information is controlled.
