Netflix announced on March 7, 2022, it was suspending its services in Russia following the country’s conflict with Ukraine.

This means that Russian subscribers to Netflix will not be able to use it. Netflix has a total of 222 million subscribers worldwide, of which 1 million are from Russia.

In a statement to CNBC, a spokesperson for the streaming service said, “Given the circumstances on the ground, we have decided to suspend our services in Russia.”

Reuters reported that Netflix has earlier refused to add state-run channels to it’s Russian library.

Following mounting pressure from states and the public at large, many large tech and entertainment companies around the world have decided to pull services in Russia. These include Disney, Sony, Universal Pictures and others, apart from Netflix.

Despite the suspension, you can still access multiple services with the help of technology – more specifically, a premier VPN service.
