Game of Thrones Season 8 Trailer Breakdown

After almost two years of waiting, we finally got to see the trailer for the upcoming Season 8. There are plenty of spoilers in the trailer, but it has also added more into the suspense of the series. The trailer recorded over 81 million views in just 24 hours, making it the most viewed HBO trailer ever.

The following is the complete breakdown of the 122 seconds of action we got to see in the trailer:

In the first shot, we see Arya who looks injured and terribly frightened of something. In the background, we hear her saying that she’s seen death in many forms and is curious to see the actual dead men walking. She definitely got her wish, and it’s not faring too well for her. We see her running away from something.

There’s an interesting Reddit theory on this that says that she’s running towards the crypts of Winterfell to stop the white walkers from raising the dead Starks of Winterfell.

Talking about the Crypts of Winterfell, there is one scene where we see women and children, alongside Varys, hiding inside them. Varys seems especially afraid, and it’s clear that there is a battle going on outside the walls of the castle.

“I know death,” says Arya, while she brandishes dragonglass. “He has many faces. I look forward to meeting this one.”

We’ve all seen Arya surviving the worst of conditions. But will she be able to survive against the White Walkers? Let’s wait and see.

We see Euron’s ships carrying an army that is probably employed by Cersei. She instructed Euron to render the services of the Golden Company for her cause. This is probably the same army, traveling via waters on Cersei’s command.

But who’s the tall blond with the long sword? Is it Jaime, which is highly unlikely considering that we’ve already seen him fighting in Winterfell? Or is this someone else? Considering by the hilt of the sword, I think this is Brienne of Tarth. But wasn’t she part of the Northern Alliance? If this is really her, then there’s one amazing plot twist coming up in Season 8!

A question we’ve all been asking since the cliffhanger in the final episode of Game of Thrones season 7 was, “Are Beric Dondarrion and Tormund Giantsbane still alive?” We saw them getting ambushed by the white walkers in the scene when the Night King finally manages to break through the wall.

Thankfully, two of our favorite characters are still alive, and they are probably inside the crypts of Winterfell, far away from the wall that no longer serves any purpose.

Sam and Bran are together, like we saw in the previous season. Over here, we see Sam utterly terrified of something that Bran said, or probably revealed to him. We’re not sure what it is but it may be really important to the development of the story.

We see two different shots where Cersei is seen smirking. But did you notice something different in the second of the two shots? Are those tears in Cersei’s eyes? Knowing Cersei, she would only mourn for one person in the whole realm, and that is her brother Jaime Lannister. Keep your fingers crossed everyone!

Here we see Daenerys and Jon marching towards Winterfell with an enormous army of the unsullied. The best part is that they are seen marching together, as equals, towards Jon’s home. And guess who’s accompanying them in this journey? The Dragons!

We see two different reactions coming from Arya and Sansa when they see the dragons. While Arya is excited, Sansa looks worried. She has reasons to be worried though. Dragons are the most dangerous beasts in the entire Game of Thrones universe, and some people would definitely avoid having them near their homes.

Inside the crypts of Winterfell, Jon looks worried. Has Bran already revealed his real identity to him? Or is there something else at the back of his mind? At least Daenerys is there comforting him.

“I promised to fight for the living, I intend to keep that promise,” says a shaggy-looking Jaime Lannister in Winterfell. We saw him leaving Cersei’s side to join up with Daenerys’ and Jon’s army.

Are we going to see Jon finally getting a ride on top of a dragon? It does feel like he is heading in that direction.

When he talked about fulfilling his promise, he wasn’t lying. Unlike the Kingslayer of the past, Jaime has learned to keep his honor for once. There is fire everywhere, probably after burning up all the wights, or maybe it is dragon fire. Whatever caused this, there is one person who won’t be too happy… The Hound!

Here he is, all afraid, and probably hidden inside the crypts of Winterfell.

The army of the living is ready and assembled, waiting for the foe to arrive. We see Brienne, Podrick, and Ser Jorah, eagerly waiting for the dead to arrive.

The night is dark and full of terrors. The dead have arrived at Winterfell!

The penultimate season 8 episode 3 airs on Sunday, April 28, 2019. We’re incredibly excited for what is the last season of Game of Thrones series. Are you?
