What is Pearson VUE and what does it do?
Pearson Virtual University Enterprises (VUE) provides a variety of services from test development to data management, and delivers exams through its comprehensive and secure network of Test Center Locations all over the world. Pearson VUE assists top organizations around the world by offering globally-recognized certifications in the professional and IT domain. Through the platform provided by Pearson VUE, candidates can take exams electronically at testing centers as well as from their homes via the online proctoring mode.
How does online proctoring work?
Live online proctoring allows completion of a test from an off-campus examination center. A remote invigilator will observe the test taker during the course of the exam using specialized software, while a recording of the session is also made. The exam recordings are held for some time (usually 60 days and 12 months, in case of being flagged). The person taking their examinations online must agree to be proctored throughout the duration of the exam.
How does PureVPN help in all of this?
Examiners use different applications or methods to conduct online exams. The most commonly-used applications are ProctorU and Examiny while Pearson also has its own app called OnVUE.
For these applications to work without any interruption, the IBT Port 80 (HTTP), Port 443 (HTTPS), and Port 1935 (video streaming) must have sustained continuous connections. Some apps use other ports as well depending on their nature/build.
If you are taking an exam from a controlled environment like government or private offices, hotels, or under school WiFi connections, there is a high probability that either one or all of the required ports are blocked by the Internet Provider (ISP).
Fortunately, PureVPN is helpful in this regard in bypassing these restrictions. By using PureVPN, you can ensure that your traffic is not routed through the ISP gateway and is instead re-routed through an anonymous and secure IP address provided by one of PureVPN’s thousands of servers.
Furthermore, PureVPN’s Port Forwarding add-on will allow you to open (or close) any ports according to your need and requirement.
How to setup Port Forwarding on a PureVPN Connection?
1. Go to the Member’s Area, select the Port Forwarding tab and then choose any of the three options (either open all ports, block all, or block all but enable following). Enter your desired port numbers according to your requirement. For eg: IBT Port 80 (HTTP), Port 443 (HTTPS), and Port 1935 (video streaming) and apply Settings:
2. Open the PureVPN app and connect to your desired VPN location.
3. Now, go to your web browser and go on www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ to check the status of your ports.
