Are you having a choice-fatigue problem?

This is common for anyone who is streaming Netflix shows for quite a while now. You sign in to your account, scroll endlessly to find a good show, and even with all the options at your disposal, still can’t decide what to watch next. We understand the problem (in fact, psychologist Barry Schwartz covers this in his bestselling book, The Paradox of Choice), and it’s totally fine. In this guide, we have covered US-only Netflix shows that you can scratch off your weekend binge-watching list.

1. Criminal Minds (2005)

This is not your regular FBI chasing serial killer show! Criminal Minds focuses on how the mind of a vicious serial killer works and the underlying triggers of committing a crime. In the show, a high-level FBI team connects the dots and creates maps on determining the blueprints of a future serial killer to prevent further homicides. The group includes a computer nerd, a genius who is an oddball, and a profiler who psychoanalyzes criminals, which sounds like the perfect mix for a crime show.

Seasons: 15

Genre: Mystery

IMDb ratings: 8.1 out of 10 (as voted by 159,382 critics)

2. Dexter

Living a double life for a Miami PD blood spatter specialist isn’t easy. Dexter is a show that revolves around a person who works for the police by day and turns into an intelligent serial killer by night, but with a conscience of course. He only kills bad guys and wraps them up in plastic to put them into body bags afterward (that’s his code, by the way). This show is truly a cult classic and nostalgic. Too extreme for your taste?

Seasons: 8

Genre: Mystery

IMDb Ratings: 8.6 out of 10 (as voted by 643,364 )

3. Jericho

If you have already watched quite a few “End-of-the-World” shows and feel bored out of your skull, give Jericho a try. This Kansan town plummeted into paranoia after a nuclear blast wiped out nearby cities. The residents thought everyone except them died. Watch how the people in Jericho get back their mental strength to rebuild the whole town while showing bragging rights to other towns.

Seasons: 2

Genre: Drama

IMDb ratings: 7.9 out of 10 (as voted by 53,748 critics)

4. Parks and Recreation

This is the type of show you want to watch when you are having a bad day. Seriously. Parks and Recreation is a feel-good show that is about a nurse and a tough bureaucrat who is trying to transform an abandoned construction place into a community park for the neighbors. That’s heart warming and wholesome.

Seasons: 7

Genre: Sitcom

IMDb ratings: 8.6 out of 10 (as voted by 210,998 critics)

5. Person of Interest

A crime-fighting billionaire! Have you heard that story before?

Person of Interest is about a rich guy who joins hands with a former CIA agent to stop gruesome crimes. With the help of an intelligent machine, both of them can anticipate violent events and prevent anyone from getting hurt, or worse, killed. The show is a perfect mix of thought-provoking sci-fi, mystery, and action.

Seasons: 5

Genre: Mystery

IMDb ratings: 8.4 out of 10 (as voted by 162,607 critics)

6. The Borgias

As a success of The Tudors, the show focuses on political intrigue, good-looking characters, and lots of killing. It revolves around a Spanish family who use manipulation and extortion to rule Italy. The cunning-yet-royal family manages to make the patriarch, The New Pope and turn people towards them. The fans are still waiting for the 4th season.

Seasons: 3

Genre: Drama

IMDb ratings: 7.9 out of 10 (as voted by 48,033 critics)

7. Twin Peaks

Watching this show can take you down memory lane. An FBI agent, Dale Cooper, goes to a  town named Twin Peaks to solve a murder mystery of teeange girl Laura Palmer (this reminds us of The Killings on Hulu). Although the show has many awkward characters and wobbly visuals, you have no clue what you are missing out on.

Seasons: 3

Genre: Mystery

IMDb ratings: 8.8 out of 10 (as voted by 174,045)

8. The Twilight Zone

Calling this show a cult classic or a good sci-fi show will be an understatement. The Twilight Zone is pure popcorn-cinema and unlike any other Netflix show that you have ever seen. The show features 159 mind-bending episodes that show different people trying to solve unusual and complex problems.

Seasons: 5

Genre: Anthology

IMDb ratings:  9 out 10 (as voted by 70,837 critics)

8. The West Wing

Ruthless presidential advisers. Politics. Scandals. Threats. These are the keywords you should remember when streaming the show on Netflix. The West Wing is delightful to watch as government officials and lawmakers struggle to make a good difference in the country. The show tries to paint an accurate picture of politicians who are working in Washington, D.C (can’t say the same in 2021).

Seasons: 7

Genre: Drama

IMDb ratings: 8.8 out of 10 (as voted by 64,171)

9. Weeds

We are not giving any recommendations here but things get weird when a widowed mother starts selling marijuana to make ends meet. Working at McDonalds wasn’t an option for her because there is no way to support her lucrative lifestyle other than selling drugs, right? (Walter White agrees.)

Seasons: 8

Genre: Crime, Comedy, & Drama

IMDb ratings: 7.9 out of 10 (as voted by 102,177 critics)

10. The Great British Bake Off

Watch this show to satisfy your sweet cravings because all they do is bake velvet cakes. Many bakers use their skills and secret sauce to create cakes, desserts, or patisserie. Some of you might actually like the show, while others can stream Black Mirror.

Seasons: 11

Genre: Reality

IMDb ratings: 8.6 out of 10 (as voted by 6,694 critics)

What Happens If I Live Outside the United States?

Netflix US shows work only in the US because other countries don’t have streaming rights to certain shows like Dexter (but it’s worth Netflix for Dexter alone). A show featuring in the US may not be available in the United Kingdom or Australia, for instance. That’s a bummer. But if you have a VPN app then you can switch to any country server and access the US library.

Here’s how:

Step 1: Subscribe and install the PureVPN app

Step 2: Sign in with your login credentials.

Step 3: Connect to a United States server.

Step 4: Refresh your Netflix page and you can now stream American Netflix.

Enjoy All Netflix Libraries

A VPN is like a magic tool that can virtually transport to any country and help you access country-specific Netflix shows. How cool is that?

If you still need more information on connecting to the right server or how to use a VPN on your Amazon Fire TV, get in touch with us via the Live Chat option.
