Pakistan Super League 2026 Preview
The 2026 Pakistan Super League is the eleventh edition of the Pakistan Super League, a professional Twenty20 cricket league organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The tournament runs from March 26 to May 3, 2026, featuring eight teams and a new two-group format, with a total of 44 matches.

Historic Auction System of Pakistan Super League
The player auction was held on 11 February 2026 in Lahore marking the first time in PSL history that selection was done through a player auction system, replacing the draft method that had been used since the league began in 2016.
A total of 888 players, including local and foreign, registered for the auction at four different base price tiers. Naseem Shah was signed by Rawalpindiz for Rs. 8.65 crore, making him the most expensive player in the auction.
PSL 2026 Venue Changes
Initially, the tournament was scheduled to be held across six cities, but due to the economic impact of the 2026 Iran war, the Government of Pakistan and PCB announced on 22 March that the tournament would be played in only two cities Lahore and Karachi temporarily behind closed doors to reduce movement and save fuel. The opening ceremony was also cancelled.

PSL 2026 Tournament Structure
The 2026 PSL season comprises 44 games, which includes 40 Group Stage matches, three playoff matches and the final. The eight teams are divided into groups of four where each side will play the three remaining teams twice and the four teams from the other group once.
In total, each side will be playing 10 games in the Group Stage. The top four sides will advance through to the playoffs. A concept very similar to the Indian Premier League (IPL), the top two teams play each other in a playoff vying for a place in the final.
The third and the fourth ranked sides will play each other in Eliminator 1. The winner gets to play the loser from the playoffs in a virtual semi-final to book a place in the final.
