PureVPN Hong Kong Servers Are Back Again

We have great news for the hundreds of thousands of users who wanted us to bring back our Hong Kong-based servers – your wishes have been fulfilled! Users can now connect to PureVPN’s Hong Kong servers, which now offer up to 10 Gbps speeds, easily from within our web and mobile applications, and enjoy unrestricted access to Hong Kong-based content anywhere and at any time. 

It was on July 28, 2020, when we made the decision to decommission our Hong Kong servers. Although we knew that our users’ data was completely safe because we do not keep any personally-identifiable logs, we still chose to decommission the Hong Kong servers after considering the lack of clarity in the cybersecurity laws of Hong Kong at the time.

Since then, we have become the first VPN service to have an always-on audit status, and it is proven by an independent audit company that our servers do not store any personally-identifiable information of our users. 

The always-on audit clause allows Well known audit firm, one of the big four auditing firms, to perform a thorough surprise audit of PureVPN’s servers at any time to check if they comply with PureVPN’s privacy policy, where we assure our users that we store no logs that can harm the privacy of our users. And the multiple audits by Well known audit firm confirm that PureVPN indeed holds true to this claim.

We have also moved our headquarters to the British Virgin Islands. There are no mandatory Data Retention Laws in the British Virgin Islands. Therefore, we are not legally obliged to store user data and share it with anyone. Moreover, as stated above, we have no worthwhile data to share with any law enforcement agency that can violate the privacy of our users anyway. Even if we receive subpoenas that are legally upheld in the court of law in the British Virgin Islands, we won’t be of much help since we have almost nothing of value to share.
